It represents the wheel of our life, composed of shards of memories, allusions and

reminiscences. At the same time, it stands as a metaphor for the endless cycle of

human existence - seemingly doomed to repeat itself, forever turning through war,

violence, exile, and perpetual flight… It is a symbol of what will remain of us… Who

we are. Where we are now…

On one of the slabs, which simultaneously resembles the walls of the Roman

Colosseum and a cemetery with freshly dug graves, the year marking the

beginning of this dreadful catastrophe is inscribed in Roman numerals - MMXXII

2022 - the year when Russia treacherously attacked Ukraine and when I left my

mad homeland forever.

And the words UBI CARITAS - “Where is mercy?”. This is the beginning of a

Gregorian chant in Latin “Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est”, which translates as:

“Where mercy and love are, there is God”.
